Can my husband/ mum/ brother drive the car?

If you haven’t taken out the additional driver option, then only you, the named driver is allowed to drive the vehicle. To add an additional driver to your reservation, please contact our call centre on 13 13 90 for a quote and to find out more.

What's the minimum and maximum rental period?

On the DailyFlex plan, it’s a 30 day minimum and on the MonthlyFlex plan, it’s a 90 day minimum. These minimums ensure we’re able to provide you with great rates for an extended rental period. The maximum rental period is 24 months. Should you wish to rent the vehicle for more than 24 months, the vehicle will need to be returned and a new rental opened.

What happens if I need to return my vehicle before 30 / 90 days?

If you return your DailyFlex rental under 30 days, you will be charged the standard retail daily rate for each of the days of your rental period. If you return your MonthlyFlex rental at 30 to 89 days, it will revert to the DailyFlex plan daily rates, or if closed under 30 days, it will revert to our standard retail daily rates.

Are there KM restrictions?

Yes, your long term rental is restricted to 3000KM per month. Any KM driven above this amount will be charged at .25c per additional KM.

What happens if I get a speeding fine in the car?

In the event you receive an infringement notice during your rental, you will receive the infringement notice from the police or from Europcar that you will have to pay. In addition, you will be charged a fine administration fee directly included in your final rental invoice.

How will you charge me for using toll roads?

Tolls will be charged to your registered credit card on a monthly basis, including an administration fee, as per our standard terms and conditions of rental.

Can I use my own toll road tag in the car?

From 16th June 2020, we’ll be moving to a new tolling solution, which will allow you to use your own personal tag in your rental vehicle. Simply ensure you have a working registered tag and place it in the vehicle as you would your own. If for any reason your tag doesn’t work, you will be charged automatically on your registered credit card for any toll roads used whilst in the rental vehicle, as per our standard terms and conditions of rental.

Can I take out insurance on my long term rental?

Yes and for rentals of an extended period, we recommend you do take out fully comprehensive insurance with an accredited Australian insurer. A copy of the certificate of currency will need to be provided to Europcar. In the event of any damage to the vehicle, you will be required to make a claim against your insurance to avoid paying the standard damage liability fee.

Can I reduce the damage liability fee?

Yes, you can reduce your damage liability fee (excess) from $5000 to $1100 by taking out additional cover protection during your extended rental. This must be chosen when making your booking to apply to a new rental.

The standard damage liability fee applies unless the reduced DLF cover has been taken out. Alternatively, customers can take out their own fully comprehensive insurance with an authorised Australian insurer and provide the Certificate of Currency to Europcar along with their Rental Agreement Number.
Any infringements or tolls will be charged to the registered Credit Card, as per Europcar standard Terms and Conditions of rental
