Pierre Rolland wins at La Toussuire: a second stage win for Europcar
Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, 12 July 2012
After Thomas Voeckler yesterday, it was Pierre Rolland's turn to take control of the day's stage! The clear winner on Thursday of the 11th stage of the Tour de France that took the riders from Albertville to La Toussuire, Pierre Rolland put in a superb performance by winning this mountain stage in fine style. Europcar, the leading car hire firm in Europe, congratulates the climber for his incredible ascent.
Today's stage between Albertville and La Toussuire was a real cliff-hanger. Pierre Rolland, who never stopped attacking throughout the stage, was rewarded for his efforts. Winner last year at Alpe-d'Huez, the man from Gien has achieved another exploit by crossing the finishing line of this difficult stage in the lead.
The riders from the Vendée based team of Jean-René Bernaudeau announced before the start of the Tour that we would probably have to wait for the second week to see them really start to shine. The Team Europcar cyclists, clearly comfortable with these tactical mountain stages that require total commitment, have today shown what they are capable of.
"Team Europcar's tremendous performance always helps to build familiarity and empathy for the Europcar brand. Whether it is with company employees, at the side of the road, within the digital community, the general public or our customers, Team Europcar generates real enthusiasm. We would like to give our warmest thanks to the Team for the emotion filled moments that they give us", explained Marine Boulot, Director of Communications at the Europcar Group.
