Shotover Canyon Swing

If experiencing a 60 metre free-fall while attached to a rope sounds attractive to you, then the Shotover Canyon Swing is a must-try. Leaping from a 109 metre high platform, you'll plummet towards the bottom of a Queenstown valley, reaching speeds of up to 150kph. And just as the end seems imminent, you'll become a giant pendulum, swinging smoothly through the canyon and experiencing flight in its most exhilarating form. Shotover Canyon Swing is immensely popular amongst visitors to Queenstown, though when you're teetering on the edge of the platform, you may wonder why...

Shotover Canyon Swing offers over 70 different styles of jump, with options for everyone from the not-so-confident to the not-so-sane.

If you've not yet heard of it, Flyboarding is a new invention that's been adopted by the Queenstown locals and is another must-try on your New Zealand adventure. Flyboard Queenstown will strap you into a board attached to a high-pressure hose, which will propel you high above Lake Wakatipu. Capable of reaching heights of up to 30ft, try your hand at extreme aerial acrobats, or dive like a dolphin underneath the surface – either way, you'll experience flight like you've never done before. And for those worried about the cold, fear not; you'll be fitted with a wetsuit that can withstand the temperatures found here in New Zealand's third largest lake.
